Chameleon Net helps five non-profits to SHARE online (20/05/2010)
SHARE* has chosen Chameleon Net to design and build its first website. A new consortium of five partners, SHARE is the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Control Bangladesh, International Institute for Environment and Development, Slum Dwellers International and WaterAid.
2.6 billion people in the world have no access to even a basic toilet and the associated diseases cause 4,000 child deaths each day. SHARE aims to generate relevant and rigorous research that can accelerate progress on sanitation and help overcome this crisis.
Winning the pitch over five other agencies, Chameleon Net is set to design a dynamic site which will play a central role in SHARE’s work. The site will facilitate the flow of knowledge between partners and help ensure that research is put into use on the ground. The site is also designed to allow policymakers and local, national and international government representatives to more easily access the information they need in order to act.
With a vibrant home page highlighting projects, the latest documents and discussions, the site will be divided by theme, user type and geographic location, and will pull in information from SHARE's Twitter account, Facebook updates, external blogs & newsfeeds.
"This website has the potential to really boost the impact of the SHARE consortium. I'm very excited to be working with Chameleon Net on this project as they bring an impressive combination of experience and creativity" says Oliver Cumming, Policy and Communications Manager, SHARE.
Jeremy Davis, Commercial Director at Chameleon Net says "For us, this project offers an exciting new challenge to work with a diverse group of partners across three continents, whilst at the same time making a positive contribution to addressing one of the world's major development challenges."
SHARE and its website are due to launch on 19 July 2010.
