Chameleon Net completes University of Portsmouth home page redesign (02/09/2009)
Web users arriving at the home page of the University of Portsmouth (www.port.ac.uk) website are being greeted by a new design, recently completed by London digital agency, Chameleon Net.
In a project that could lead to an expanded role for the agency in the institution's online marketing, Chameleon Net was briefed to refresh what, for many potential students, is the first experience of the university's visual brand.
The new design incorporates an interactive navigation panel, links to recent news stories and a revolving slideshow which highlights key aspects of student life in Portsmouth. Visitors can also view video content and access the university's Twitter and RSS feeds from the page.
“The new home page represents an excellent achievement from a design as well as technical viewpoint,” says Claire Brookes, Head of Corporate Communications at the University of Portsmouth. “Without departing significantly from our exisiting visual guidelines the new design projects a contemporary feel and offers visitors rich new content and a wide range of navigational options.”
Daryl Irvine, Creative Director of Chameleon Net said, "Our key challenge on this project was to reinvigorate the University of Portsmouth homepage while retaining a consistent experience for users across the whole site. We worked closely with the university's in-house web team to ensure that our ideas didn't necessitate significant changes elsewhere on the site, yet consolidated the University of Portsmouth as a leading educational offering.”
